As any of you know who have seen me and my belly in the last little while know we are expecting our third child in a few days.
This was an unexpected event and our nursery was long ago disassembled and passed on. We soon started receiving hand-me downs including a white crib and change table and all the basics for a nursery. Since we did not need to purchase anything (and we know how little time you actually require any of it) I decided to create a challenge for myself and decorate the new nursery for $100 or less, including all bedding and accessories.
I used fabric for the jumping off point and you can’t beat IKEA for their vibrant colours and price point. At $6.99/yard I got all the fabric I needed for a duvet cover, bed skirt, valance and decorative pillows. To keep in budget I did all the sewing myself and I am no seamstress so believe me, sewing was the REAL challenge of this room!
This created a vibrant colour scheme of green and blue which really punched up the rest of the white in the room. A few colourful accessories, shelf and hooks gave the final touches. The cable curtain rod above the crib provides a safe rotating art wall for my 5 yr old to add her touch and no danger of something heavy falling in the crib.
