Glass Aspen House
Our clients came to us part way through their luxury infill new build as they were moving in a direction of a cooler pallet than they had envisioned. Even though the clients are successful doctors, they didn’t want their home to feel clinical. After meeting the clients, we connected immediately and got right to work, moving in a warmer and richer direction for their large scale project. Our design-savvy clients collaborated with us and the builder on the holistic design for the entire home - including an exceptional exterior design that stands out in their neighborhood. Their rooftop patio with ravine views is sure to be a special space for years to come.
Mid Century Makeover
Our clients were looking for a mid century vibe in their traditional home in Westbrook Estates, while also making the space more functional for their family. They had a beautiful sunroom at the back of the house, however, it was cold and therefore, not used by the family. We incorporated it into the kitchen and casual dining area with heated stone floors and added in a malm fireplace to provide warmth and the mid-century feel they were after. We also added in a ton of built in storage throughout their customized kitchen and dining room.
Warm and Modern Revamp
When our clients' purchased their partially renovated Crestwood home, they knew it still needed modifications to make it the ideal home for their family. This warm and modernized space was once a separated and unused den that we transformed into a private family room and living room. We created this bespoke interior space by designing a custom walnut wall divider that housed multiple storage solutions, a built-in laptop table, as well as an eye-catching modern linear fireplace. Walnut storage lined walkways allow the natural light to pour through and join the two spaces for modern family living. The one-of-a-kind coffee table has a moving mechanism that allows it to be used at numerous different heights for a variety of uses and activities. The custom-scaled wallcovering is the perfect backdrop to the tailored multi-tonal grey sofa where the young family can watch television or weekend movies.
Serene Sherwood Park Pad
AMR Design worked with these homeowners to create a long range plan for the design of their entire home. Over the course of 7 years, AMR has worked to take this traditional two story home and create a modern eclectic space for this family one room at a time. The sunken living room was raised to create a large dining space complete with a gas fireplace, hidden bar, local artwork, and a custom ceiling cavity to house a beautiful lighting feature. The living room was accented with local artwork and quality, long lasting furniture pieces. The main bathroom, which is visible from the top of the stairs, was adorned with fun, high impact tile and hickory cabinets. The kitchen was transformed with custom hickory cabinets painted in a light blue grey tone.
Modernized In McKernan
Our clients came to us looking for assistance to bring their 80's dated home in the heart of McKernan into the modern world. We assisted them in updating the living room, including removing a river rock fireplace and replacing it with a sleek concrete fireplace, and going bold with black wall colour and jewel tones accents. We also took on the powder room on the main floor and the ensuite bathroom. The powder room got a major makeover with a jungle themed botanical wallpaper, a black herringbone stamped sink, and gold accents with walnut cabinetry. The ensuite was transformed to add storage space for their products and we created a spa like bathroom with a stand alone tub under a show stopping light fixture and teal ceiling. The shower was created using black and white tiles for a timeless modern look.
These long term clients hired us for a third time to create their dream bungalow. This 5500 square foot custom home has a modern twist on the traditional aesthetic. A rich, warm palette was created using custom millwork and mouldings, stunning marble tile and a unique curved wall to highlight the staircase to the fully finished lower level complete with games room. Our clients' elegant style was complimented with traditional cream coloured fowl wallpaper, curated furniture collections, and understated yet timeless decor selections.
Our clients' beautiful expansive views of their acreage property were the inspiration for this walkout bungalow renovation that spanned over the course of two phases. Our first phase included creating an entertainment oasis in their basement. Heated, creamy epoxy floors welcome guests into the space and the full wine wall allows our clients to show off their impressive wine collection. We also designed a space for games, multiple tv views for sporting events, a built in kitchen and bar and wooden column features to create an upscale rustic feel.
The second phase of their project included the majority of the main floor, where we completely reworked the floorplan to allow for an open kitchen and remove wasted hallway space. Dark green cabinets with black honed granite and brick backsplash compliments the accents of copper and live edge wood features in this anti-modern home. The fireplace is an homage to curated fall colours, complete with copper liners that will patina beautifully over time.
"It has been a pleasure working with AMR for the last 2 years. We loved the design plan for our basement so much that we had Brenda work on other areas of the house. Brenda has kids and gets that functionality and durability are key for our family. We appreciate that she wants to make the design work + look great!"
